SpaceX Launches Mock Starlink Satellites on 10th Starship Test
SpaceX conducted the latest test of its massive Starship rocket on Tuesday night (August 26, 2025), successfully deploying its first test payload, eight dummy satellites, into space. After more than an hour of coast, Starship successfully splashed down as scheduled in the Indian Ocean. The launch from Starbase in South Texas took place shortly after 6:30 pm. This event marked the tenth test of the world’s largest and most powerful rocket, an incredible milestone for SpaceX and NASA as they work together to send astronauts back to the moon. It’s exciting to see their progress in exploring new frontiers! NASA has ordered two Starships for lunar crewed missions later this decade, while SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s ultimate goal is Mars. No crew was onboard during this demo. The test also successfully returned the Super Heavy Booster, which splashed down in the Atlantic after testing its landing burn. Meanwhile, the Starship orbited Earth, passing through daylight, night, and daylight again, before its planned splashdown. Just before entering the water, its engines activated to flip the craft upright, with the nose cone facing upward. This successful demonstration followed a year of setbacks. In January and March, back-to-back tests ended within minutes, dropping wreckage into the ocean. The May test, its ninth attempt, ended when the spacecraft tumbled and broke apart. In response, SpaceX redesigned the Super Heavy Booster with larger, stronger fins for added stability, as per a recent post on X.
