Meta Raises $15 Billion in Bonds to Fuel AI

Meta Borrows $15B to Fuel AI, Five-part bond offering targets data centres and computing capacity.

Meta Platforms raises $15 billion through a five-part US dollar bond offering to fund its fast-growing AI projects, the company said Tuesday.

Bond offerings are one way tech companies are paying for the data centres, expanding computing capacity, and growing their cloud services.

Meta is borrowing $3.25 billion, to be repaid in 2031 at 5.85% interest, and another $3.25 billion, to be repaid in 2033 at 6.25% interest.

The company had already borrowed $25 billion in April 2026 and $30 billion last year, bringing its debt to $83.67 billion as of September 30.

The debt sale comes just days after Meta also announced plans for a $97.5 billion equity raise, showing how much funding the company is chasing for AI infrastructure. The company expects capital expenditure of $135 to $145 billion this year, largely driven by AI investments.

Moody’s Corporation assigned the new debt an Aa3 rating, citing Meta’s moderate financial policies and positive net cash position despite rising AI spending. Meta’s total debt stood at $83.67 billion as of September 30, according to LSEG data.
